Earlier today Green Day released their brand new single “Bang Bang” but there were still a lot of questions regarding a possible future release. Luckily Billie Joe has answered those questions.
BJ spoke with Rolling Stone and he revealed that the band will be releasing a brand new album titled “Revolution Radio” on October 7th.
“Revolution Radio” although not strictly a political album like “American Idiot” is being described as “a collection of songs about the chaotic state of America in 2016.”
Billie Joe also revealed that the new single “Bang Bang” was the first song written for the album.
“I moved into a new studio that I built in Oakland and I just started messing around with different riffs. The first song where I was like, “OK, I’m onto something” was “Bang Bang.” And then the first track of the record, “Somewhere Now.” I started doing demos and I showed them to Mike and Tre. That’s the test. And they absolutely loved it.”
The tracklisting for the album reads as follows:
Somewhere Now
Bang Bang
Revolution Radio
Say Goodbye
Outlaws
Bouncing Off The Wall
Still Breathing
Youngblood
Too Dumb To Die
Troubled Times
Forever Now
Ordinary World
“Revolution Radio” is coming in the fall and BJ also confirmed that the band will be announcing tour dates soon.
“We’re probably going to be announcing dates pretty soon. We’ve been in the garage hammering them out, and it sounds great. Jason White, Jason Freese and Jeff Matika are back with us, and we’ve got the gang back together.”
“Ordinary World” will be closing the album and BJ has said that he wrote the song for the film “Geezer.” You can check out a video of him playing the song at the film’s premiere below and you can pre-order the new album here.
