In 2008 Travis Barker was in a horrific plane crash which he luckily survived. Although he made it through the crash, Barker suffered burns on 65 percent of his body and he was hospitalized for 11 weeks.
Barker later admitted that he was in so much pain that he offered a friend $1 million to kill him at one point.
While was recovering doctors continued to deliver bad news as they told him he would likely need to take prescription drugs for the rest of his life, and he would probably never play drums again.
The iconic drummer recently spoke to The Huffington Post about the plane crash, and he says the warnings from the doctors only motivated him to prove them wrong.
“The doctors said, ‘You’re probably going to be on most of these drugs for the rest of your life because you went through such a horrific experience, and you’re dealing with bipolar disorder. You’ll probably never play drums again, you’ll never run again.'”
“Then the challenge was in my mind just to prove them wrong,” he said. “I had to wean myself off of every drug, start playing the drums immediately, run, and then I became even healthier than I ever was before the plane accident.”
