All Time Low recently released their new album “Last Young Renegade” and the band recently joined the Alternative Facts podcast to talk about the new album and their journey so far.
When you start as a pop punk band, it’s pretty much a foregone conclusion that fans will accuse you of selling out when the band becomes successful. Jack Barakat talked a little bit about the idea of “selling out” and he noted that people started accusing them of selling out years ago when the band release “Nothing Personal” (via Rock Sound).
“I think we sold out a really long time ago, when we released ‘Nothing Personal’ people had thought we’d sold out, it’s so weird how that works.”
Singer Alex Gaskarth also shared his views and added that he, “can’t help but feel the whole selling out thing is kind of a dumb conversation in my opinion, I don’t really get it.
“We’ve always just made music that made us happy, whether it was more punk, more rock, more pop, whatever it was. We’ve always just done what we liked at the time. It comes up with every record that we put out, whether it’s ‘Don’t Panic’, which was way back returned-to-form rock for us, or whether it’s this record which is a little more out there and trying some different things, there’s always someone that says, ‘oh they sold out’.”
