Earlier this week Paramore made a huge announcement when they revealed that their new album “After Laughter” will be released next month. Fans have been waiting a long time for a new Paramore record, but Hayley Williams has gone on record saying that it almost didn’t happen.
During a recent interview with Zane Lowe of Beats 1 she noted that it was Taylor York who convinced her to keep going (via RockSound.tv).
“I wish I could say that was the case with this record. I do feel like, you know, you listen to like Brand New Eyes and I yell the entire 40 minutes. I wish I could take credit for fighting through things bravely with this, like go ahead and hate me for pointing at you for the next 60 seconds but I was kind of flatlined and I think that if it weren’t for Taylor, the band would be over. Yeah, I had enough, ‘I’m tired of losing friends’. Or tired of doubting myself and maybe if I just don’t or if I’m not doing it all and I won’t have anything to doubt, I can see what else I can do.”
According to Hayley, she had a conversation with Taylor, and he assured her that everything would be ok regardless of whether or not she continued on with Paramore.
“The most important thing for me is not to paint myself in a victim kind of light. But I will say I just kinda was done because my heart was tired. Taylor told me, we went to coffee one day and he was like I am your friend and I will be your friend if Paramore is a thing and if it’s not a thing. If you can write music then we’ll write music. Doesn’t even have to be for anyone – no one ever has hear it. You just tell me and I’ll support you and having choice having options and understanding like okay I have choices.”
