Last year Fall Out Boy announced their new album “MANIA” with the intention of releasing it in 2017, but eventually the album was pushed back, and some of the original songs were scrapped.

The album changed, but the title stayed the same, and during a recent performance for iHeartRadio, the band answered some questions about the album.

One of the questions had to do with the title of the album, and Pete Wentz explained why they decided to call it “MANIA.”

“I think we live in a really manic time. It feels like it’s just always going. I think that people think mania is the opposite of depression, and it isn’t really. It starts as this profoundly happy feeling and then becomes paranoia, violent. So that’s what it felt like. It felt like the wave on the cover coming down the hall, and the way it doesn’t really care how you feel, or what you think about it, or how you reply to it on the internet, is coming.”
